IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Probation, pre-trial, diversion and most other legal entities consider "dilute specimens" as POSITIVES. It is important to consider your fluid intake when doing court-ordered drug tests. On test day, our recommendation is to limit your fluid intake to less than 20 ounces in the 2 hours prior to submitting your specimen. This will help to ensure that your specimen is valid and does not raise any red flags. Because dilution of urine is one of the most common ways to mask or cheat a drug test, those taking court-ordered drug tests could face additional testing, probation revocation and jail time if a pattern of dilute specimens exists.
What is a "DILUTE SPECIMEN"?
A "dilute specimen" is a urine sample that has a higher than average water content. The goal when diluting a sample is to minimize the visibility of drug and alcohol levels in the urine. When someone consumes excessive amounts of fluid, the concentration of urine will subsequently become dilute or less concentrated. This can be accomplished by intentionally over-consuming large amounts of water prior to a drug test and will lower drug ratios in the urine. Unfortunately for cheaters, this does not guarantee a negative result, and the laboratory will immediately detect the diluted sample.
