Divorce and other family issues often create anxiety and fear in the children living in the home. Kids who feel unsafe, unsure, or unhappy sometimes turn to drugs and alcohol for coping. Oftentimes, this behavior has already been modeled in the home so it seems the next natural step in the progression of adolescence and coping with the magnitude of challenges that are often associated with this period of life. As a parent, it is your absolute obligation to keep your child safe. Periodic drug and alcohol testing is a great tool to make sure your child is on the right path. If not, you can help to provide early intervention to deal with problems known and unknown.
In some cases, children in the home may not be using drugs but may have exposure to others who are. Parents, siblings and other friends/ family who use drugs in a child’s living space may unknowingly be exposing them to harmful metabolites. When drugs like marijuana, methamphetamine and crack cocaine are smoked in the home, drug residue can be deposited on, and incorporated into, the hair shaft. Child Guard Hair Testing can differentiate between ingestion and exposure to these substances.

DRUG & ALCOHOL TESTING options FOR CHILD CUSTODY, PARENTAL EVALUATION & FAMILY LAW:
Drug Testing: We will customize the panel dependent upon the situation. 5 panel to 17 panel. Drug panels can include ETG. Same day and lab based urine and oral results available.
Alcohol Testing: ETG (Ethyl Glucuronide); this is a direct metabolite produced by the ingestion of ethanol alcohol; urine ETG has a window of approximately 72-80 hours
Hair Follicle Testing: Panel can be customized to include drugs and alcohol (ETG); window of detection approximately 90 days for head hair and up to 1 year for body hair.
Fingernail and Toenail Testing: Panel can be customized to include drugs and alcohol (ETG); window of detection approximately 3-6 months for fingernails and 6-9 months for toenails
PEth Testing: (Phosphatidylethanol); this blood test uses a direct alcohol biomarker to indicate exposure to alcohol going back 2-4 weeks. This test is an accurate indicator of intentional excessive, prolonged or binge use of alcohol and cannot be affected by incidental topical exposure, such as isopropyl alcohol swabs or hand sanitizer.
ChildGuard® Hair Exposure Testing: Typical hair tests will only report a positive exposure result if drug metabolites are detected, even when the native drug is in the child’s hair specimen. ChildGuard® reports a positive result if either native drugs or drug metabolites are detected, giving much better insight about the child’s environment. ChildGuard® can provide evidence of substance use in a child’s environment for the past 3 months, and can be performed on donors of any age. 5, 7 & 9 panel.
